Lutsen is the North Shore's mountain town: compact, forested, and organized around Lutsen Mountains, the largest ski and ride area between the Rockies and the East Coast. In winter it is a ski destination; the rest of the year it is a launch point for hiking, biking, and the Lake Superior shoreline.
Because everything is close — the slopes, the gondola, the Superior Hiking Trail, and Highway 61 — Lutsen works especially well for groups that want to do a lot without long drives between activities.
